What this section will tell you
- How assessment works for the programme
- What forms are essential
- How to record information
- Assessment is...
- Only carried out by qualified Assessors
- Quality controlled by Moderators appointed by the IST
- A process that is mutually agreed upon by the Assessor and Learner

- Starting Point
- Process is driven by the Learner, advised by the Assessor
- A Learner can start with:
- A whole Unit
- A single or group of Elements within a Unit
- Several Units or parts of Units
- It depends on the evidence the learner wishes to present.
- General Principles to follow
- Assessment is led by Professional Discussion (PD)
- Throughout the PD, evidence is presented by the Learner to the Assessor to illustrate, demonstrate and prove competency (ie to meet the specific Unit/Element requirements)
- Evidence can include:
- Products – things the learner has produced
- Witnesses – people who have experienced the learner doing things
- Supporting evidence – items such as manuals, emails from clients, job descriptions, equipment used, documents read, websites visited etc.
