CPD - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A list of questions that you may need answering! Any further queries please direct them to the contacts listed on the "Contacts" page.

How much does the whole Qualification cost?

There is a simple fee structure and details of the current fees can be obtained from our Sheffield office.

What do I get for my money?

The registration fee will provide you with access to the on-line community and attendance at an induction session.

Your annual fee will provide you with on-line support and help towards completion of CPD Units. It also covers assessment of the Units.

How long will it take to complete the whole award?

Every person will be different. Since the CPD programme is a developmental process it is expected to take around three years to complete all 14 required Units.

You may, of course, find it useful to complete more of the optional Units as they can provide valuable guidance on good practice in new areas of work.

The Units also offer a framework for structured professional and personal development by showing you the standards and performance baselines required in a range of occupational areas.

Do I get credit for each Unit or do I have to complete the whole thing?

Each Unit will be assessed as you progress but the award is based upon completing 14 of the 26 Units.

Once completed you will be "in the habit" and, since the principle is all about CONTINUING Professional Development it is expected that you will maintain your knowledge and skills in a similar manner.

The award is designed to develop as time passes to keep up with current good practice and the occupational activities of the technical profession.

What sort of support can I expect?

You will be assigned an Assessor/Mentor who will most likely be from within your own institution.

You will also have access to the on-line community where you will have access to the closed e-mail and discussion forums moderated by the Assessor team.

It is hoped that colleagues also registered for the award will become an important source of support (and inspiration!) through both the on-line resources and in your own workplace.
