CPD - ASSESSMENT & EVIDENCE REFERENCING

The Assessment

The Assessment Report

  • The Assessment report gives a summary of the items the Assessor has seen, the items that were discussed, questions that were asked, and witnesses talked to.
Asessment Report

  • If a Critical Incident is used then much of the detail of the item locations and what component the item was being used to evidence will be contained in the CI reflective Account. This does not then need replicating!
  • Similarly if the Assessor uses a checklist based upon the Unit Descriptor, then the detail of the Professional Discussion does not have to be provided on the Assessor Report, just a note "See Checklist"

Checklist

The Assessment Summary

  • The Assessment Summary provides a summary of the OUTCOMES of the Assessment including how the components were assessed, what the results were and any actions the Learner (or indeed Assessor) still need to take.
  • The Language is debatable but good practice suggests the term "Met all requirements" or "Met some requirements" suffice providing that this is expanded upon as appropriate (eg "Element 2.2 needs more evidence" or "Knowledge for Element 5.3 and 5.4 need further discussion - see checklist")

Assessment Summary

Note that under the Method column in "Observation" the "CI" indicates the Critical Incident Reflective Account was used.
